Aaron Glover, owner-operator of The New Yorker in Taupō, is bringing a slice of New York City to Taupō.

From classic bagels and American-style hot dogs to creamy milkshakes and fries, The New Yorker really lives up to its motto, ‘To give a little taste of New York City in Taupō’. Aaron also serves his unique twist on the popular New York-style pizza, Ice Cream Pizza, which has a cookie dough base topped with ice cream and toppings, served either as pizza slices or as a whole pie for special events.

The New Yorker is more than just an eatery to Aaron and the community. “So we think of the New Yorker not only as being a place in total,” he says, “but a place that people can come and meet and talk about different places they've been around the world, believe it or not, serve some sort of variations of the American hot dog in their culture”.

Glover is originally from the Bronx in New York. He grew up in a household where they didn’t waste any food, so preventing food waste is something close to his heart. “We don’t want to waste food if we can help it,” he says. That’s where Foodprint comes in. After his wife spotted it on social media, she told him he had to sign up. Aaron saw an easy way to turn surplus into a positive. “Sometimes we have some leftovers, but this is an opportunity for us to make a little money and not throw the food away. It gives me a good feeling,” he explains.

With Foodprint, The New Yorker can share its love of food with more people while preventing food waste. We hope you stop by the New Yorker and try their delicious food!
